Is It Legal to Use Images from a Book on Clothing?

Im interested in using images from a book to put on clothing. The author/illustrator will be clearly identified as it will be attached to the clothing. I will be selling the clothes to make a personal profit. Is this legal?

Answers:
If the image is copyrighted or trademarked already, you have to obtain permission from the owner of the image.

It is not difficult to obtain permission, just write or call the publisher.

If your clothing sells because of the attractive image on it, the owner or creator of the image should have some percentage of the income from that use.

No, it isn't.

You need their written consent.
No, it would be copywrite infringement and you could be pursued both criminally for selling fraudulent merchandise and civilly the the copywrite owners.
