Child support/ paternity in missouri?
My friend was just served with papers for child support on a kid he never knew about. After diggin around online it seems she filed for paternity against some other guy a couple months after the kid was born and the case was dismissed. he wants a paternity test and if it's his he will fight for at least joint custody. if he gets married, will they base child support amount on just his income? or the combined? will he have to pay back child support if he never even knew about the kid? what should he do?

I don't know the laws where you are from. Tell him to get a lawyer because some states they can back-charge up to 10 years in child support.
He can fight it but they will get him because the courts by default will side with the child support people. There are no laws saying they will side with CSS/CSE but that is the way it is.
He will need a court ordered DNA test for it to be of real use. Then he can take her to court for whatever custody he wants to try for. Deals between him and her are of little use for custody, he will need something from the courts.
Anyhting he does with that woman will need to go through the courts.
They will probably start the clock on the child support now so he may need to put 17% of his money aside for that day. I have heard that 17% is a cap but I haven't seen that law for myself. If they do a dna test and he is the father he will most likely pay for the testing. If he is not the father she will most likely pays.
I am going through a paternity issue myself and we are now into our second state of fighting and I think she will run to PA so I may have to fight up there to but I think I got her pretty good in MD. If she runs to PA in may not be a hard fight if I can get the default judgment in MD.
it will be based only on his income...and if its his he will only have to pay from the time paternity is established or from the time she puts it in the hands of the child support office which will still have to wait on the test no matter...she is owed no back support because he is not proved to be the father yet so its from the time they prove it and there on
