Whats the case law for the defence of parking on yellow lines that have no end lines?
Am appealing against a parking ticket issued by my local council. My car was parked on a road that had double yellow lines which just stopped(no end line at 45 degree angle to double lines).
I remember a case in the papers where someone won a court case as there was no end line but cant remember the details.
Anyone know the 'case law' for this?
P.S I'am not the only one whos had a ticket there so could it be 'backdated' to cover them?
Many thanks

That used to be the law, similarly you could not be prosecuted for crossing double white lines unless they had Cat's eyes in them. Or in the case of parking they had to slap the ticket on. But all of this seems to have gone by the wayside now in favour of raising money. There was a traffic warden on TV the other night who said they only need to see your number in order to prosecute if you drive off. Unless you have loads of dosh to fight it on principle you might as well pay up but bear it in mind next election, not that any of the others will be any different. The relentless persecution of motorists is why we have not had any Income tax increases for 15 years or what ever it is.
if you are parked on double yellow lines you get a ticket, you have no case!
unless the area of the road you were parked on was not were the yellow lines were, in which case take photos of the position your car was to prove it wasn't on yellow lines, then they should cancel the ticket.
Unfortunately even though the markings may be inaccurate as far as the end line, you must have known parking on double yellow lines would lead to a parking ticket, pay up and forget it. Life is too short.
The offence is parking in an area where parking is prohibited and the area has to be signed. The double yellow lines are only to bring your attention to the signs. If the yellow lines are completely obscured,do not conform to legal standard IE. width distance from edge etc.or missing then you have a case.Because they don't finish absolutely the same length is is not a cause for appeal.
if the double yellow lines do not conform to the exact detail as stated in the highway code if not the ticket is void, so appeal against the ticket. take a photograph of the lines and where they apparently end
the law states, that if a yellow line does not have a end bar, or the line is broken in any way, u cannot be done for parking, my advice to you is to take a picture with the date stamp to pruduce to the court, (the yellow line has not to be broken in anyway, if it is, it is illegal)
