My boss hired me while under investigation for sleeping with his 13 year old neice.?

he hadnt been formally convicted yet. but is now serving 10 years. he didnt bother to tell the people he was hiring (all of whom were under 17 and girls), and just expected us to figure it out when he didnt show up for work and his mother took over the company. is this illegal?

Only if you were harassed. Now, after being charged it would of been illegal. He will have to file as a sex offender and he will be on probation. The probation requires him to be known as a offender and he will not be allowed near the victim. Or any other kid... unless they are with their parents or guardian.

But if you quit and wanted to sue because of distress you probably could. Sounds like he has enough trouble, and unless something happened you should just let it go.

Unfortunately it IS legal. He was not convicted of anything so he was not a sexual offender and had nothing to tell. By telling you, he had much to lose by way of rumors, which could have affected his court case. It wasn't nice, but it was legal.

Even if it isn't illegal, what kind of psychopathic, pedophile, incestuous moron doesn't tell his workers he's under investigation. They are technically part of his company so they can be put under investigation too. I mean, all of you are under 17 and he slept with a 13-year old -.- I think you should get out of there as soon as possible.

i guess next time you just have to be a bit more careful when going for job interview and ask the right questions and read the right signals - if he was sleezee, then obviously u wouldn;t want to work for him

It was NOT illegal to have hired you all and not disclosed this info. Simply because he had not been convicted (yet). Of course it shows he has no scruples but such is life-get over it or get another job.

Your employment did not have anything to do with his criminal life style. I guess you could be thankful his mother took over the company and you are all still employed. That he chose not to tell you he is a child molester when he hired you is not illegal. That he did not tell you when he was convicted is not illegal either. That his mother took over the company is not illegal either.
Just get the hell out and find another job
