The Anti-terrorism laws. The laws are seen by one side as being necessary for our national defence and security but by the other side as an attack on our rights and freedoms by restricting our freedom of speech and expression, freedom of political activity and freedom to voice disapproval of Government or police. It is also seen as an attack on our Common Law rights to a speedy and impartial trial and to be considered innocent until proved guilty.
