There was something shown on Australian tv that got me thinking?

They brought over 3 American minimum wage workers to speak to Australian union members and at some political campaigns. It was funded by the Australian Council of Trade Unions. These people were just average workers from Pittsburg and Florida.

It was a political stunt aimed at showing the Australian public what could happen to them if they keep the Right wing government in power, which has resulted in new legislation to de-regulate the labor market.

Does anyone feel concerned about this?

Answers:
If Australian workers want to see their jobs outsourced to China or India, have their Corporations set up dummy headquarters in other countries to evade taxes, then sell their products at a very high profit to Australians, while laying off a major part of their workforce, and reducing the salaries of the remaining workers, declaring themselves to be on the verge of bankruptcy to force workers to take cuts in pay, then posting greater profits than ever before..if this is what Australian workers want, then by all means put in a Conservative government.

Also, let the Corporations start a huge public relations campaign, stating that it is the health care and pensions of the workers that caused financial problems, but in the meantime, build huge, luxurious complexes for executive use, complete with tennis courts, swimming pools, etc, pay their CEO's and other executives millions and millions of dollars, plus bonuses and perks, maintain limousines and airplanes and all of the good stuff. If this happens, you will have a good Conservative government.

Your home mortgage may be in jeopardy, and if you are poor, you may end up living in your car, but that's okay. Teach a man to fish and he'll learn to fish. But if there are no jobs, the fishing is pretty lean.

Some Conservative measures may be good ideas. Some Liberal ideas may be good ideas. But radical elements of either ideology can lead to major problems.

Well all I can say is the bloke they are up against our Prime Minister John Howard is the king of political stunts thats what has kept him in power for so long so sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
You are wise to question this A short time back there a T V crew, from the land of Oz. asking Americans basic questions they were unable to ans. sorry but when I saw on T V they looked like fools The problem is I know, can't tell how, they edited out 95% the 5% were fools What do you think their reasons were?
All I can say to that is where I live GM, Delco employed thousands here. Its all gone now, this area was the headquarters of Delco. All headlights, tail lights, alternators, starters, dashes, for all of GM's cars was made here. Not one factory left here now! It has all been sent to China and Mexico where they pay their workers practically nothing to produce it. Why pay the workers here $27.00 a hour plus benefits when you outsource it and pay practically nothing! I am a machinist, used to work in Indianapolis, Indiana. We made plastic injection molds for car battery's etc. Our biggest client was RCA. They made TVs just down the street from our shop. President Clition signed N.A.F.T.A. RCA and the others I talked about closed up shop! RCA moved to Mexico, lost them, our biggest customer. Shop had to close. Where I went to college to be a machinist, not offered anymore! Sure their are jobs for a machinist around. When say their used to be 100 NOW only about 3. Lost my job and benefits. It is sad. I did not see the Australian show. I hope this helps. I hate to think if their was a war, I mean world conflict. I think whoever is doing this in the US have no foresight. Seems like the big corp. are selling us out. I hope it is not going on down there! Honestly I do not see why. If their is nothing but low paying jobs, how do they think people can buy their products! I hope I am on track if I am I apologize.
