My boss is attempting to demote me because of his personal beliefs what should I do?

I'm very nice and respectful and I do my job very well. I started working with this company 3 months ago. I have sat at my desk and literally did nothing for 60% of the time. They were suppose to train me but "no one ever has time" Everytime they give me a responsibilty and I take it and do it well they give my responsibilty to some one else. I have really gave this job my best but they continue to screw me over. They are attempting to move me to another department that doesn't fit my criteria. I'm to the point that I will move just as long as keep my same pay. My boss is having a hard time moving me because the deparment he wants me in doesn't pay as well. I hate to use the race card because I never want to put this label on anyone who doesn't deserve it but it's starting to seem like a race thing to me. My boss's superiors are good people and they seem fair. So my boss is afraid to fire me because he will get in trouble. So he is tormenting me in an effort to get me to quit. I won't!

I'd try talking to your supervisor, respectfully let him know how you feel, that you welcome responsibility and want to do a good job, and just want the chance to do a good job.

If that doesn't help, then you could talk to the personnel department, and it's on the record with someone outside the control of your supervisor that you saw a problem and tried to resolve it, and went through the proper channels.

Also, keep a dated journal, and write down anything irregular or inappropriate, so there is a record later, if you choose to pursue it.

Although frankly, having only been there 3 months, I'd fight harder if I'd been there a long time. I think at this early stage of being employed there, it might be better to just look for another job, and then leave without making any waves, going to a job where they'll appreciate you more.

If it is a case of racial discrimination, I'm confident that there's a hundred other companies you could apply to that WOULDN'T discriminate against you. Or if it's not actually racial, you simply wouldn't experience the same apparent personality conflict.

And if there's other jobs available, why stay where you're not comfortable or appreciated? Just keep your eyes open for something better, and move on to greener pastures.

In any case, best of luck to you. You seem like a good guy. Hope it pays off, and you find something better.

When you say you're not busy 60% of the time, I don't fully know your situation, but maybe everyone there is experiencing the same slowness that you are. And if that's the case and business is slow, you (and everyone else there) probably don't have much job security. Another reason to look for another job. Unless you really have great pay, seniority and benefits you don't want to lose, with only 3 months there, it's just easier to move on.

This seems to be a common trend in workplaces. Bosses making it hard on employees in hope that they get sick and tired of it so they will quit.
My best advice is to start looking for another job. If they fire you, you have a great case for unemployment benefits and even a wrongful termination suit (if it's worth it to you, but it seems to me like it's not).
Why you won't? If you're a good worker you'd be able to get a good job everywhere. Start looking for a new job and move on.
You're trying to force them to accept you when it's obvious that they don't want to. If you play the race card or the law card they'll be forced to keep you there but nothing will make them be nice to you. You're wasting your life trying to win a silly dispute.
I don't like racist people but I know that they won't get better by the force of the law. If something, they'll get worse.
Think about you and what's best for you. Go to work where you're accepted and the work environment is nice.
this sounds like "UPS"
get another job as soon as possible and get out of this nowhere job
tell him exactly what you just said. if it doesn't pan out, oh well! as big as you are, you could probably be a bodyguard!
someone that does nothing 60% of the time that gets demoted has nothing to do with race . Taht is ridiculous and you are lazy , within that time you could have simply watched your fellow employees and gained the knowledge you needed . You are screwing them over by wasting time and it is ridiculous for you to use the color of your skin to try to be successfull
Hi Big:

You need to find an attorney with successful legal-expertise to burn a gaping hole through your supervisor's backside!

Is your documentation in order? What proof do you have?
Do you have a journal (a VERY "detailed" recording of what you're being put through)?

Please..by everything holy...DO NOT go into an attorney's office empty-handed!
Give him/her something to work with!

God bless you!

Sincerely,
THE MIDDLEFINGER

PS:

(1) Gather your documentation and keep it at your house/apartment. DO NOT leave anything of that nature in your office-desk or locker!

(2) Prayer works wonders! Have you talked to Jesus lately about what you're going through? O WHAT PEACE WE OFTEN FORFEIT, O WHAT NEEDLESS PAIN WE BEAR. ALL BECAUSE WE DO NOT CARRY EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYER!
print out this question.
go up to him and read it.
i know it sux to loose a job but its harder to live like this. plus u can always collect unemployment
It is the responsibility of your boss to train you (or make sure you get the training) I don't believe in the race thing either, but if you have to do it,then I would.Sometimes a person has got to do things that they don't want to do,but you are talking about your job here.Time to take the gloves off my friend.I wish you luck.
I've seen a thousand guys like the one you described. They have no morals or backbone. You sound like the kind of person that doesn't want to make trouble for anyone much less yourself so here is what I would do because I've been where you are. I would complete a task and then go right to this boss person who has it in for you and ask for another assignment and continue to do this until he has no choice but to train you. Sometimes even people like him can see past skin color and recognize what is important in a person. I also would not rule out going to the big bosses especially if you have a good rapport with them. But first establish a verifiable track record of always being ready and willing to do whatever is required of you and you can do this by timing your visits to the dumb boss while someone else is standing there and can witness this in you. I suppose the first thing you should decide is whether or not this particular job is worth the effort in the first place. Good luck.
You know it might just be race...he isnt trying to give you what you deserve..
