Is a marriage conducted in a Ugandan registry office regognised as legal in english law?
The marriage was between a Ugandan lady and a british man who susequently died resulting in problems for the lady getting fair share of mans estate.
Answers:
Maybe if it was registered at the British consulate in Uganda.
otherwise its probably worth diddly.
Not sure that "fair" share is right, how do we know that said Ugandan lady did not just get fed up with english hubby and finish him off?
I would say it is probably not legal, but try it in english court (paying for a solicitor of course...) and see how you get on!
Yes, it should be recognized.
Like all law it will depend how rich you are. The richer you are the more 'justice' you get...funny that don't you think?
A marriage which was legally contracted in any country is recognised in UK.
