****UK ONLY*** I've been a victim of fraud?
I bought a forklift truck in London for £18500 for export to the UAE which cost another £4500 to sell for a profit of approx £10000.
Once the truck reached its destination in the Gulf the customs officials there were querying the plate details, and wanted to verify that the details on the truck were correct. Now the company that I purchased the truck from gave me paperwork and an invoice for the truck as being manufactured in 1985.
I contacted the manufacturer to verify the details and they said that there was a discreprency in the age of the truck and that infact it was not a 1985 model but a 1973 model.
Now I cant get the truck out of the port and the customer doesnt want the truck as its too old so I will be losing big money. I understand the 'sale of goods act' section 13, but what I want to know is if I can sue the company for the haulage and shipping charges and also my lost profits? and if I dont go to court how much money should I ask for in compensation for my loss.

Contact the company and ask them for written explaination for the "misrepresentation"
And ask them to give you a written responce

I know you said, "UK only" are your laws that different than ours in the States? If I were you, I'd get myself an attorney. It's you against a dealership who I may add is not in the business of losing money. Good luck. Sorry to hear about your situation.
