Legal marriage age? LAWYERS PLEASE HELP?
Has the legal marriage age for Alabama changed? I know that 19 is when your an adult in Alabama but Ive looked and nothing has changed from what I can tell and it seems like you can still get married at 18.
Answers:
18 it is.
If either of you are under eighteen (18), you will need a certified copy of your birth certificate. Both parents must be present with identification, or if you have a legal guardian they must be present with a court order and identification. The state requires a $200 bond to be executed, payable to the State of Alabama. If one or both parents are deceased, proper evidence of such must be provided. Individuals under the age of 14 may not marry.

In Alabama they probably allow you to get married when your 12
Reciprocation in laws would mean you could legally get married in one country at age 12 and if you then move to the US, the marriage should be deemed legal. This is of course one reason the USA wants to dictate laws for the entire world, one Christian set of laws. Thus, the USA cannot punish a US citizen for having sex with a 12 year old in a foreign country where it is legal, ergo, a US citizen should be able to legally wed at a legal age in a foreign country, and then be granted legal married status in the USA. This is the basis for motor vehicle laws in the USA, where if you get a ticket in one state where you are not a resident, the penalty can still be enforced in your home state. Marriage is already granted this reciprocation between states, as you are legally married in every state once you are married in one. Thus, the minimum age of marriage in any state must be the minimum age of marriage among all states, and it must also apply to international marriages. So to find the minimum age of marriage in Alabama, you must find the lowest minimum age of mariage among all countries in the world. To invalidate this argument would mean that the law on marriage is based on religious beliefs, which according to US law, is unlawful!
18 , I think is the legal age in the US for marriage, in some states it might be lower or with parental permission. Contact your local court house and ask them the legal age in that state.
According to Alabama law, if both are 18, you can get married. You can get married after 16 with parental consent.
Here's the actual code section:
Section 30-1-5
Consent of parents and bond required for marriage of certain minors.
If the person intending to marry is at least 16 years of age and under 18 years of age and has not had a former wife or husband, the judge of probate shall require the consent of the parents or guardians of the minor to the marriage, to be given either personally or in writing, and, if the latter, the execution thereof shall be proved. The judge of probate shall also require a bond to be executed in the penal sum of two hundred dollars ($200), payable to the State of Alabama, with condition to be void if there is no lawful cause why such marriage should not be celebrated.
