Are neighbors notified about sex offenders?

I am not sure, are neighbors actually given a notice when a registered sex offender is living near them? I should think so, because I think the people around them should have the right to know..

Answers:
You can go on certain websites and see where they live, see their picture and read their profile, but the neighbors are not notified. I think it's a load of crap. There is a senator or something (I can't remember what his title is) who wants to make it so that they have different license plates so that they are easily visible. I think it's a great idea. I am so sick of all the people in this country worrying about the rights of criminals.

Most county sherrifs offices have websites with sexual offender registries. You can often be put on a notification list when a sex offender moves into your area. It is normally free of charge.
Megan's Law is available online--which means you can view the sex offenders in your area, pictures, profiles, and addresses so you know who's a perv and who just likes the kiddies.
They usually don't give you notice, but you can go to the police station and give them your address and they will tell you.
I know in Arizona they send a notice out that a sex offender has moved into the area. It gives his name, picture, what level offender he is, if he should still be considered dangerous. They don't give the address or anything like that.
There's a website called 'watchdog' that some schools encourage parents and kids to use.
