When a non-racist looks at you, he doesn't notice what race you are. That makes 99.9% of us racists because we
do notice. I know from a previous question that most of you won't understand what I am saying. Let me try to clarify it by the story of a mother who had to answer a question from her white son about what a black person was. She answered, "Well, your friend Johnny is black". "He is not", her son replied.
You see, little children are usually color-blind until someone teaches them otherwise. And perhaps 0.1% of adults are color-blind, while the rest of us are racists, even though some of us won't admit it, and some of us try to redefine what a racist is.

I've heard about that before. i think it's quit interesting.if the whole world would stop judging people by their race, the genereations to come wouldn't do so either.
A racist is someone who cares what color you are.
I think everyone is a little raciest even if we don't think so.
The actions of people of all colors speak louder than any slogans or thought control. It's hard to talk anyone out of personal experiences. If groups don't want to be stereotyped, its good to stay out of the stereotypes, and it will go away.
But you are right, at a young age, with no personal experiences negative or positive, the children don't make distinctions.
I must be color blind then because all I see when I look at another person,is another human being.A person like myself who I treat with respect the same way I expect to be treated.
There are just some people I do not like or care to be around. I like honest people. I like good people. I can usually tell after talking to someone have just met -- within the first ten miutes or so, if I will be able to tolerate them. I prefer to judge a person by who they really are. But I am aware that many people judge people by their color.
This sounds like a rant and not a question.
What makes someone racist is to follow any preconceived notion regarding a person because of their skin color.
The only people that can't physically, visually register the difference in someone's ethnic background are the blind.
You can't embrace diversity by pretending that it does not exist, that is nonsensical.
It would be nice if all people were color blind. I don't know if you are black or white, but I get tired of people (usually liberals) screaming "racist" at everything. People can't be honest with each other. I would love for that veil that people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have put between us to be taken away. They are the kind of people that thrive on "keeping it going." BTW, I am white.
recognizing differences among races isnt racism.
racism is quite a strong word. it has a wide range of meanings, but i think the best definition of racism is if u look down upon the other races and consider ur own as superior.
as to the children stuff that ur saying, i think kids really dont recognize any other differences among people. they also dont recognize differences on class, gender, and other characteristics.
It's not racist to notice. It's racist to judge based upon that observation.
It's not that most of us won't understand.. it's that your logic and argument is so flawed. Color is an identification feature we use on a daily basis. From knowing that a red light mean stop.. to knowing that our Toyota is the blue one in the parking lot.
And for the record, little children are NOT color blind and distinguishing between colors is NOT something that needs to be taught.
