Should Johnson & Johnson drop it's lawsuit of the American Red Cross?
Lawsuit is over ARC using the cross symbol on products for sale. Don't know the bigger details of this issue? Do a web search, be sure to check official information. I know how I feel about this - just want to see what others think.
Answers:
I think J&J has lost most of my business from here on out. The symbols are not the same because the ARC will only use it with their name, and only on products that assist individuals in case of disasters. If J&J wanted to make themselves look good, they would work with the head of the ARC to contract to make the products in question, and not look for a profit from the products. With the situation the ARC is currently in, their goal is to increase knowledge and people's preparedness in time of disaster, they should be able to provide products to insure this.
Maybe Johnson & Johnson needs more money, so they need to sue to get it. Why else do people really sue....
No they should not drop the lawsuit. J&J filed a trademark on the red cross symbol in the late 1800's and they graciously allowed the American Red Cross to use it without compensation for many years; until the AMR started selling the red cross symbol to others to make money. It is a simple case of trademark infringement and the AMR should not be using the red cross symbol in the manner they are using it.
