Someone who knows something about the court system?

My boyfriend is currently in jail in Texas for traveling with too much money. Aug.12th will make 3 months he's been there.(bail is very high)... He has been to court 3 times but they keep pushing the court date a month further away. The last time he went it said arraignment and now it says Non-trial. But for someone who was with him during all this it says Disposition. What does all this mean. I don't have time for games or jokes. If you are not serious about answering this question than don't bother. For the serious inquires Thank you, Much!

Answers:
It sounds like your boyfriend had been indicted on money laundering charges, and is in a federal detention center.

Federal courts are notorious for being backed-up. Adding to the mix is that there may be several co-defendants in the conspiracy to launder money, thus, making it a complex case needing extensive discovery.

Key terms:

1. Arraignment: The defendant is apprised of his charges, and enters a plea of guilty or not guilty; sometimes nolo contendre (no contest).

2. Disposition: The defendant is scheduled to enter a plea of guilty before a judge. Once plead guilty, the defendant shall be interviewed by the Probation Officer to assist the judge in sentencing considerations.

Good luck to both of you!

Honestly, I've never heard of someone being charged for "traveling with too much money."
It looks like he had accepted a plea offer for lesser time and is about to be sentenced. It's good, because this means he will be transferred out of jail to a federal facility (that normally has better living conditions) sooner than if he had went through trial/
there is no crime for travelling with too much money
since 9/11 the irs and others have been tracking any transaction over $5,000,so they want to know where the money came from and where it's going
i hope he wasn't near laredo!
have him file a MOTION FOR SPEEDY TRIAL
that forces them to do something within 120 days from arrest
GOOD LUCK let me know!
