Can I sue a collector for calling me 9 times in 1 day?

You can stop all routine collection efforts, by sending a cease and desist letter to the debt collector.
nope...unfortunately it is there job and they can call you many times.until 9 pm.

i think at that point it's considered harassment! im not sure about where you live but here in Canada there is a law where they can only call a certain amount a day and only during certain hours.
you should check up on that!
Get an unlisted number. They are not allowed to harass you.

well, first and foremost.pay the debt and all will get better! However, there is a law which only allows certain amount of calls, times and places. Check into it..

No, you CANNOT SUE them. HOWEVER, new laws in most states make it illegal for collectors to call you AT WORK. Also, it is illegal for them to sollicit information from ANY of your co-workers or Boss... the ONLY time a collector or agency may contact your employer is when proper legal garnishment papers have been filed with the courts on behalf of the company you might owe... This garnishment provides that a percentage (VERY VERY LOW---usually something like $100 a pay check---lower in some states) may be deducted from your pay PRIOR to you receiving it until such debt is fully paid...(and the court costs incurred by the writing and issuing of said garnishment..If they call you at work, you DO have the right to tell them that it is AGAINST THE LAW to call you AT WORK and if they continue to do so, you will sue... I've NEVER really heard of anyone actually suing, but Normally once you tell a collector they CANNOT CALL you at work, they must STOP the calls.
