What do you think: Is there more of a reason to be optimistic of pessimistic about the USA?
All I've been hearing lately on Y!A is that the USA is spiraling downward, it's no longer a world power, China will soon overtake the US in every conceivable way, we're becoming a 3rd world nation, we should all get out while we still can, and basically that the sky is falling. What do you think: is there more reason to be optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the USA?

trust me honey the rest of the world takes a dim view on the great u s of a ... I am a new zealander and whilst traveling through europe etc am extremely pleased i wasnt classed as an american! While your country has many things to be proud of it also has many problems viewed by the outside world...
Maybe you could start with your countries leaders aye!...
When viewed by us, with such things like response time to hurricane Katrina etc when you can invade other countries in under 12 hours it makes you start to wonder... Maybe there are too many problems in your own country which need rectifiying before you start too fix countrys problems that dont even speak your language... how can it be justified that you can create war situations in some countries because it furthers your own countries needs and then ignore situations in other countries which could really do with your help? (eg the rwandan masscars). Sorry to rant and rave but theres an outsiders input! (and i dont mean you as in literally) but i am pessimistic! (Still have yet to travel your great country) and big plans to do so, I believe you have alot to offer the world, but its definatley time for some changes.
(heres an example for you.. while in a backpackers in italy we were talking to some american students about the price of petrol in n.z, at the time it was approx 1.30 per litre... they were like wow thats cheap its like $3.50 in the states! we were like yeah but do the math... how many litres are there in a gallon?!!) lol it made me laugh!
don`t be so disheartened. america has a constitution that can be changed and amended to right its wrongs. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
I am very optimistic in regards to the future of the USA. I'm too stupid to give up on this country or ever stop fighting for it.
