Who thinks that Principal John Klang got what he deserved?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070803/ap_o...
He did nothing to protect Eric Hainstock from being abused, bullied, or harassed by other students. Protecting the abusers and preserving the patriarchy were more important to him than this student or even his own life.
Also, they're all treating the principal's wife like she's some kind of victim, when it was out of her bad judgement that she ever chose to marry such an abuse-loving man. She married a man who was too weak to EXPEL every single student who pushed, shoved, harssed, and called this student names, now she's paying the price for marrying such a person.
Also, why couldn't he punish this student's harassers and abusers? No wait, there would go his start athletes, trophies, money, and recognition of the school. Maybe the bullies parents were on the board, or maybe Principal Klang secretly felt this student needed to be punished for seeming different. Or maybe the bullies paid him off.

I think it is a rare thing for a murder to be "justified". Klang may have been guilty of doing a really awful job as the school's principal, but I don't feel he deserved to be killed. I am very much against violence.
I think a better question would be, did Eric Hainstock get what he deserved? I don't feel that he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. I think a psychiatric facility where he could be treated for the mental illness(es) that he must have from being an abused child and where he would have a chance to be rehabilitated would be far more appropriate and fair.
Child abuse and bullying from peers can have devastating effects on a young mind. Hainstock is still only a child and there is a realistic chance that he could be helped and return to society and never be a danger to anyone again. But he'll probably just be locked away forever.
So I guess I really don't feel that anyone involved got what they deserved.
You know, I was going to go through and answer your questions that you list in this rant, but I realize that you have already passed judgment over the person that lost his life to this selfish SOB.
You speak of punishing the ones that harrassed? What about Eric Hainstock? Instead of shooting the very ones that have been causing his pain for all these years, he chooses to shoot the principal instead? Oh, yeah - that is someone that is seeking justice. If he would have gotten away with it, he still would have had to deal with the bullies. He did the very same thing that you accuse the victim of doing.
And you know that the harrassers were the athletes? I have seen a lot of bullies that are not of the "jock set", but instead are losers just looking to boost their egos by picking on someone so they feel like the bigger person.
There are ways to stand up to bullies. Where were Eric's parents in all of this? If my kid had been in a situation such as this, you damn bet you I would have done whatever possible to insure that he/she were protected, and not driven to such lengths. Maybe transfer them to another school? Something of that sort, or gone to the principal and/or school board and done something. There are many different people that should accept the blame in all of this.
The one that has the most blame to accept in this got his sentence today. He was a selfish little boy that instead of taking care of the true problem put another face on it and killed him. It saddens me that there are actually those like yourself that think what he did was "justified". Since when did killing an unarmed individual become the answer to every problem in the world?
I am against all Violence. The Principal did not deserve to die this way. It was a tragic accident waiting to happen. From My standpoint as a Mother of a teen and a children's advocate.. He ignored the warning signs and did NOT expell the bullies or try to get help for Eric.. Violence begets Violence,, I do not think the Principal should be Labeled as a Hero, Because he was not... My sympathies go out to Eric who was teased unmercifully Until He just could not handle it any More,! Eric did not get a fair trial Period... He had attorneys that did not know what they were doing.. It was a travesty of Justice.. and also any Respect I had for his wife went out the Window also, !! Her comments regarding Eric left a lot to be desired.. and Last but NOT least the New Principal of the school who said "He got what he deserved, and that this should serve notice to the rest of the nation we will not tolerate Violence..!! Wow!! what a hateful and vindictive woman.. I would NOT have any of My children attending that school .. I am following Eric's story very closely and I hope that there will be some good decent folks who will step up to the Plate and get him the help he needs and deserves... 30 years is a long time and it should have been a lot shorter..
