The way things are going these days with companies thinking they own you 24 hours a day 7 days a week people will in time realise that unions were good. I'm not saying that unions have always done the right thing, but in time when the boom slows down people will realise they need help and if the unions are not there who is going to help you the COMPANY I think not !! that is why they want to run the unions into the ground, the unions are there only problem to dismissing people for the pettiest things.
