What is wrong with this picture?
Leonard Little - Drunk driving that killed a motorist, then got another DUI. Currently playing in the NFL
Jamal Lewis - Cocaine trafficking. Currently playing in the NFL
Ray Lewis - Watched his friend murder another, lied to protect him(perjury). Currently playing in the NFL
Michael Vick - Dog Fighting. Probably will never play another down in the NFL.
It is a sad thing that Michael Vick did. But when the lives of animals, and political correctness become more important than human lives, and the poisoning of our children. Things are out of whack.
When PETA has more influence on the outcome of heinous crimes, than MADD. It is a sad day.

Michael Vick got what he deserved, and it is unfortunate that the others did not.
For some reason in america drunk driving and drugs is not that serious offense when it comes to celebrities. Every time you open the paper another person with a known name is getting busted for drugs, drinking, possession and even trafficking and little is done outside of a slap on the wrist and spend a few weeks in a Rehab resort. Which is all fine and well until they leaver treatment early and repeat the process.
If you or I was cuaght driving drunk with some pot int he car you could be that we would immediately be staring at the inside of a cell. If we did it again, you could bet we would be loose our freedom for a good while.
The american judicial system plays favorites and treats some crimes differently dependant upon who commits them. I still don't understand how Martha Stewart does more time for a little white collar crime than these little startlet running around hopped up on coke wrecking their cars and blowing twice over the legal limit every few weeks.
What is wrong with this picture is that there was more of any outcry about the animal abuse than there was about the human abuse...I am an animal lover, so don't get me wrong, but this is why I like animals better than people--because people don't care about people anymore...the only one's who care about humans are the animals...as animals go, humans are the only species of animals that kill eeach other for "pleasure"...as Mike Royko (may he rest in peace) once wrote: Even cockaroaches, rattlesnakes, and scorpions respect each other--kind of makes you proud to be human, doesn't it?" Sad...
"sad thing"?This case is not sad it is SICK and HORRIFIC ! That SOB needs serious psychological evaluation, because who in their right miind would torture and kill animals like he did? I hope he NEVER steps foot on a football field ever again and I hope karma gets him quickly and painfully, I hope he suffers as much as those poor dogs suffered. A bullet to the head would be to good for him...what a piece of sh!t.
It's deffinately not sad that Vick got what he deservited. Yeah, what everyone did is awful, but what Vick did is dog fighting, but then when the dog lost he'e itd drown it, electrocute it, slit its throat, hang it, etc etc. Tell me, do you think that thats honestly not a big deal? He did it to many dogs, and I really think that if someone got a DUI, it isn't as big of a deal, because sad to say, it happens every day. I'm deffinately not saying that these other crimes are in any way not serious, however he killed many dogs that would of made wonderful pets, all because he said that he wouldn't get into trouble because he was famous, and because he thought it was fun. Now thats whats sad, it's more than sad..it's sick.
i agree with you 100%, what mike vick did (if he did it) was bad, and he should receive a small punishment for it. but lets let the punishment fit the crime.
"A small punishment?" What an unbelievably callous thing to say! It isn't just celebrities; many people who are drunk and kill somebody on the road get little punishment. That's the bane of the Highway Patrol. Cocaine trafficking... that's what you're referring to as poisoning children, I assume. Not that I disagree but drug charges are not treated as violent crimes, whereas litterally poisoning children would be. And it isn't just celebrities; many people who are charged with drug offenses get little or no punishment at all until they've been caught like 4 times. As far as witnessing a murder and perjury... dude, almost nobody gets in trouble for that and if they did, it's extremely minimal. Don't you watch Forensic Files or any other crime-related shows (real ones, not "C.I.")?
You are also missing a HUGE thing here: the essence of dogfighting is that it is a GAMBLING ENTERPRISE. That's why they (the NFL) are coming down so hard on him. I am an animal lover and was absolutely horrified at what I heard about Michael Vick. People like that do not deserve to live so well. They don't deserve priviliges. The thing about the things you wrote are that you are using examples of other players who were either not directly involved in anything (Ray Lewis), involved in crimes in which their capacity was severely diminished (Leonard Little and yes, they take that into consideration in DUI cases), or something that is not a violent crime (Jamal Lewis). Michael Vick was aware and understood what he was doing and what he was doing was unbelievably cruel. And THAT is the biggest aspect of what you've missed: none of these other crimes are malicious or cruel. A death caused by a DUI is awful but it IS an accident. There's no intent. Drug trafficking: not cruel. No malicious intent. Witnessing a murder: no active involvement in the crime. No malicious intent. But shooting, strangling, electrocuting, hanging and beating dogs to death can be called nothing BUT cruel. It is ONLY malicious intent that would cause a person to do something like that. Why not dispose of them humanely? For the pure fun of seeing something suffer. There's no other reason. THAT is what sets Michael Vick apart from the others and I'm surprised you didn't see it. Drunk drivers are bad, true enough. Cocaine dealers are terrible, it's true. Witnessing a murder, yes that's awful but anyone could understand why he'd want to protect his friend even though it's wrong. But a man who tortures helpless animals for no reason? There is something wrong with someone like that.
EDIT: Again, dude... you've missed the point. Killing someone in a DUI is terrible. Losing a loved one for ANY reason is terrible. BUT IT'S AN ACCIDENT. What Vick did was no accident. There's no intent, malicious or otherwise. And as far as people affected by a loved one who is addicted to cocaine or drugs... if they blame the dealer for it, they are blaming the wrong person. Besides, we are not talking about the families. We are talking about the NFL, aren't we? A corporation. There's a difference. And I'm sure the family of Leonard Little's victim didn't feel justice was served at all. But in DUI cases, it rarely is.
