How do I find out about georgia laws in the work place pertaining to lunch breaks and other breaks?

Answers:
This topic is covered under "labor laws" where there are laws at the federal level, then "adjusted" at the state level.

Here is the web site of the US Department of Labor, which is in charge of these laws at the federal level.
http://www.dol.gov/

Here is one of their documents specifically on the topic of lunch breaks
http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/workhours/b...

What this is saying is if you need a bathroom break & it is like 10-20 minutes long, the employer cannot dock your pay for that time period, but if you have a lunch break of 30 minutes or more, that is your time, not the employer time ... you will not get paid for that 30 minutes, unless there is a union contract making that exception.

You can use the search engine on their site to find additional documents if this one does not do the job for you.

If there is no state law on some aspect of this, then the federal law applies.

In Georgia, the government department for this is called the Georgia Department of Labor. Here is their web site
http://gdol.georgia.gov/01/home/0,2167,8...

They also have a search engine on the site, and a ton of documents that include the phrase lunch break ... you can go look & see if you find something relevant to your interest.

Also if you have a union contract, that can further modify the rules.

For example, in a factory, the law might say that you get to go to the bathroom between start of work and lunch, or between lunch and quitting time, but the union contract might say that you have to raise your hand, and someone come and take over your machine to operate it while you on bathroom break, so the machine never stops.

By you placing this question in the category of Law & Ethics, you might not be connecting with the best people qualified to answer this question. I think a better place for this question would be under Business & Finance / Careers & Employment.

Try contacting the State Government's web page, search.
There may not be any specific information. It should be posted at the job site. Here in Ky there is a board by the lunch room, that states, laws concerning break time during the shift, lunch.

If you are implying that people are given additional breaks to pray. Then this must be given to everyone. Tell your HR department they are discriminating. If they put in foot baths,
then you want a pew to kneel on.

Good luck
