Do I have to get my picture taken by the police!?!?
The cops say they have a detailed discription of me that someone had given them verbaly. Now they called me up and want me to come down to the station to take my picture and see if it matches the discription. Do I have to go?
Pleae Help!!
Answer:
If the police want to have your cooperation, they can get it one way or another.
i would say yes. why are you so freaked out? Did you kill someone or something? If you didn't do anything then just go down there without being worried and take the photo. Worst comes to worst, you'll have to go on trial for something but all you would need is a good lawyer.
I don't Think that you are Required to Go to the station unless they put a warrant out, but you never know they have a Section in the law books that do allow for you to be picked up on a "Want" instead of a "Warrant". both are generally the same
This sounds a bit peculiar to me. Not a line up.
If you do not go voluntarily, they may come and arrest you.
Get a lawyer, or contact legal aid.
Go to the police station voluntarilty but say you want to have your lawyer present during police taking information about you.
Do you have a driver's license?
If so they already have a picture of you on file.
The lawyer can find out from the police when and where the crime was supposed to have happened that they have you as a suspect on, then get statement from you on your relevant whereabouts, then work on seeing if you have alibi witnesses or other evidence to clear you.
This can get expensive fast, but not as bad as you spending a lot of time in jail.
No.
Not unless thay have more to go on. Your description no doubt matches a third of the other people in town.
If they DO have more evidence, you'd better go.
Get a lawyer and follow his/her advice.
I would get a consult from a lawyer or call the Public Defender's office in your area and ask them. The Police can get a picture of you pretty easily, though. All they have to do is follow you around during your daily routine and snap one.
since 911 New laws apply..If you wheren,t there~and didn,t do it what the flupck.Don,t sweat it!.But as others have said.contact legal aid/attorney first! And you've heard the saying"if you do the crime be prepared to do the time".Good luck to you
If you dont go on your own, they will probably pick you up and do it that way.. If you have a lawyer, consult with him/her without delay. They may be able to make inquiries before the fact and see exactly whats going on.
First question (DO NOT ANSWER) .. Did you do anything illegal?
If not, you have less to fear-- However, I'd be worried about being mistaken as someone else.
In either event, I would request that a criminal defense attorney be present at the taking of the picture, as well as during the identification process.
If you committed some sort of offense, talk to your attorney (openly, since your statements are protected under Attorney Client Privlidge)...
But contact an attorney, and head off any problems by overzelous cops ...

Sounds like you are a suspect in a crime.
GET A LAWYER!!
At this point you do not have a constitutional right to be appointed a free lawyer, that doesn't occur until you are charged.
GET A LAWYER!!
Nor do you even at this point have the right to be read your Miranda right. That occurs when you are in custody (arrested).
GET A LAWYER!
But the police are going to do their best to get you to make incriminating statements.
