Are there any laws.?
Does anyone know about state laws (ks in particular) regarding religious solicitation in the workplace? I've checked our state webpage but couldn't find anything. Before I contact my employer...I'd like some references I could read on my own beforehand.
Answer:
State laws aside most employers forbid solicitation of any kind in the workplace. Even if the state allows it the company can legally so no.
Contact your State Attorney General and County Attorney's office's. It free and from the horses mouth.
I live in California, and I actually wonder myself about the laws here regarding religion in the workplace. I am not sure about Kansas.
I am Catholic and do work for a very devout Catholic employer. But when I first started working for him almost 2 1/2 years ago now, I was not a practicing Catholic. And there were and still are Catholic statues and Crucifixes all over the office, including on the top of the shelf over my desk. It's a bit much even for me at times.
Fortunately, for my boss, (and me), I decided to go back to Church. But if I hadn't, I don't think legally he has a right to display those statues over my desk. I do feel that is religious solicitation. I mean, what if I had been Jewish? Would he have hired me?
I would think there would be a question even in your state about religious solicitation in the workplace. To me it's matter of personal preference. What works for one person, may not work for all.
