Why would this ticket for driving with no lights on = around $800.00 ?
This is in California, It says, violator driving, or driver, the writing is messy not sure which it is, and thats code 24250
under that it says no headlights on
and then no proof of insurance, but there was insurance just not with the driver. Code 16028
There are only two numeric codes , total.
Curious, why does it say $800.00 on the telephone system, and how many violations does this encompass?
And what do these things mean?
Answers:
call the court clerk and ask.
Do not call the clerk, the clerk will have no answer for you.
The scheduled bail (fine) for violating Vehicle Code section 24250 is $146 ($35 plus assessments).
The scheduled bail (fine) for violating Vehicle Code section 16028 is $760 ($200 pluss assessments).
However, if you can show the court that you did, in fact, have insurance in effect at the time of the citation, the VC 16028 charge will be dismissed, although the court can charge a $10 fee. If you did not have insurance, some courts will reduce or suspend the fine if you get insurance after the citation.
