How do you deal with threats and hatred campaigns against you?
What techniques and tactics are available. It will not go away. Appeasement is impossible.
Bullies want to control others. So do politicians.
It is one of techniques of Managers to nullify opposition. e.g. if you own the land they want, or if they just don't like you.

Kill 'em with kindness.
Heck that is what politics has become today. Politicians do not argue with facts, they seek to smear and personally destroy or at least silence anyone who disagrees.
Find out what crimes they have committed. Usually when someone accuses others of crimes they have crimes themselves that they are hiding. If they do it in public where you can defend yourself, ask them what their crimes are and be very aggressive in your tone when you ask. Don't get angry just aggressive. If you see them look down or get upset usually that is a tell tale sign they are hiding something. If they fail to mention anything start taking some guesses. Eventually they will tell you their own crimes or they will just give up on accusing you. This technique puts you at a cause over the other person.
