You need to ask the Home Office as to where he is. Alternatively, ask his mum.

Someone suggested contacting prisoner locate. - As I have the ability to use this service on a daily basis as part of my job, I can inform you now that you will need the patience of Job to await a result as they would not prioritise your request. Equally as the respondent pointed out, the prisoner would need to give permission for any information regarding your request for information. This mean if he says no he doesn't want contact, you could be waiting and waiting as prisoner locate would not rush to inform you of the no!
If the prisoner wishes to make contact with you, I'm sure you will receive a letter or a VO (visiting order)...so why not just sit back?
