You witness a Cop drowning in the Lake ...?
and you can either save his life or take a Pulitzer-prize-winning photograph, what type of film would you use?

take the picture with my digital camera so its easier to post on myspace -one less crooked cop
I'd even save your life first before I'd go for the photo. I think.

The only reason you're allowed to post this garbage is because the brave police officers put their LIVES on the line every day so you aren't attacked and raped by the merciless street thugs. A little thankfulness would be nice.

As a member of the human race I would do all in my power to save him or her. Therefore I would have no need for film.

Basically this is how it goes. Most sheep (you it would seem) don’t like the sheepdogs (cops, military etc.) because they can look and act like wolves (i.e. they can kill and fight). You don’t like them until they save your sorry ***. ;o)
I'm going to guess and hope that this question is some sort of satirical look at the press, and not some hateful perspective against law enforcement as others have suggested.
I see a human being before the uniform. I would try to save their life in the same way I would try and save your life if God forbid something so horrible were happening to you.
You don't have to give that question a second thought, if you are human. Would if the police was your husband or son,and that happen to them,I think you would want someone to save their life. Lady please!
I suppose a higher speed would be in order to eliminate motion blur. Hmmm. Don't want it to be too grainy, either.
Without more info on lighting, I guess 1000 speed would be about right.
I would use whatever film was waterproof and be able to take pictures underwater as I would be in the water and try to save the drowning person. I win both ways with this type of film. I save a life and win a Pulitzer for my photograph. This same policeman might someday be the one to save my life or someone in my family.
I'd take a few angled shots with the ole nikon d70, after the pics if there was enough time i might throw him a little floatie somethin! Why the hell would he go swimming in a lake if he can't swim! Cops, I tell you what !
