Parents of teen girls..?

would you let a 14 yr old girl date a 17 yaer old guy?

Answers:
I'm not a parent but I was in this situation. I was 14 and the boy I liekd was 17 and I spent about 3 months stewing over it, so terrified and worried about my parent's reaction. It wasn't bad. They let me, but it was really hard. I couldn't go to his house until we were about 6 months in and they knew his character and he was a good guy. They also did not let me ride in his car with him or any of that so I would say you should let your daughter if this is your situation but be very restrictive for a while and find out how this kid acts. Don't give them opportunities to be sneaky like letting him drive her and going to his house (parent's might not be there) until you figure him out. Present her with the idea of "I'm going to let you date him as opposed to not letting you at all but this is how it's gonna be for a while" so she'll be appreciative to even get to be with him for now. It'll wear off but it will buy you time to get to know this kid. Have him hang out at your house a lot too so you have contact. It ends up not really being dating but just boyfriend and girlfriend but not actually going on dates and things like that because it's trouble. I'm only 17 but I know how this stuff goes and what my friends have gotten into and this is how my parents did it and I'm still innocent and all that if you know what I mean. Also, like I said, check into his character because it's a little strange for a boy that age to go for a 14 year old, not SUPER weird but it's quite a difference so make sure he's not COMPLETELY after one thing from her and educate her no matter how much she resists on how boys are whether she believe you or not.

hell no, i'm 15 and i know what guys have in mind...and yes i'm a guy
Absolutely not. Sorry, that is just too young for any girl to be involved, especially with an older boy.

I know that is "old fashioned", but experience says it is a formula for trouble!
No I wouldn't even let her date. :) bwahahahhaha
Depends on the guy.

But yes.
no if he wants to date her seriously then hed wait and just be friends till then and if were my kid id shoot him fast and say emostional stress as reson
the fact 17 y/o is going for a 14 y/o says a lot. its kinda creepy.
No, we let our 13 year old daughter only date a boy if he is less than 2 years older.
I personally wish she wouldn't date at all, I was once a teenage boy.
No.

A 14 year old girl should only date boys her own age - and then only when chaperoned by a parent...
ain't no way.
Are you the parent asking the question or the young 14yr old CHILD? If you're the child, then you're too young to date. Especially a 17 yr old guy.
If I'm speaking to the parent, then I have to say I'm shocked that a parent even has to ask this question. Duh, the answer is NO! Be the parent. Unless you want your daughters innocence to be taken away and her to come home pregnant. And where is her father? He should have a man to man talk with the 17yr old and let him know it's in his best interest to stay away from his daughter.

If you choose to let her start dating try group dates with boys her own age during the day and with a chaperon.
No.
14 year old girls should not be dating. Period.

haha, dont be stupid, lets use our better judgement
