Do i need a doctor’s letter to take medicines into the USA or prescription?
I am going to the USA (Miami) on holiday soon and as I am on medicine will it be ok for me to take a prescription as proof that I am taking the medicine or would I have to get a doctor’s letter??
Answers:
DEFINITELY take a doctors letter. The first time I tried to enter a country with just a prescription, I was really treated roughly when I showed the pills I have to take. Take the prescription and the doctors letter as supporting evidence but only keep it in your carry on bag. I learned not to offer it but have the proof I was not taking anything illegal. Have not had any trouble with that attitude in four countries and one was America

Most likely you won't need the doctors letter if you have the prescription with your name on it, but I would get the doctors letter just to have in case you do need it. You never know what could happen with all the new rules for entering another country, and getting on the plane.
Get both because the DEA and ICE (Customs) will hold you up for hours without those documents and you could be subject to arrest for bringing in a controlled substance to the US especially in Miami where the largest amounts of drugs enter our country. Have a great trip !!
