Answers:
There is no such judgment. The supreme court, however, has said that sites need to take steps to verify age, so they started doing this credit card thing.
I really don't know, Haven't ever seen such a thing.
There was no judgement that handed down requirement of a credit card for proof of age. But I think the court did rule that any site may use a credit card for age verification purposes.
Exactly what sites require age of proof from a credit card? I know of many adult sites that just require you to verify your age using a form, not a credit card.
I would be careful of those sites. Most people don't do the credit card thing because it could lead to problems.
They are not valid proof of age, or of identification at all for that matter.
It's total bee ess. I can walk into an Albertson's and purchase a $100 American Express gift card, give it to a kid, and he can do whatever he wants with it. Nobody he deals with over the internet would be any the wiser.
Only in a roundabout manner.

for a credit card.
so: if you have a credit card, you are of legal age
to purchase goods and services.
