From my own personal experience, not much at all!!
The child support department in California is HORRIBLE to deal with. As a recipient, I am supposed to have an assigned child support worker. However, if I call their number, I am only able to talk with some sort of operator that will take a message for you and supposedly your call will be returned by the worker. This is a joke. Each time I have called, I have talked with someone different and I even have the list of names, dates I called, and the reason for the call written down. I have on more than a few occasions been told that there is absolutely no record of my previous call and therefore my case remains in limbo because no one is doing their job.
I could go on and on about what child support workers don't do. Your guess is as good as mine as to what they actually do.
Like I said in the beginning, they do NOTHING!!
