Should I settle for this amt for my minor son?
accident settlement for my son is abt $1.3K, medical abt $7XX is that enough? The agent was rude & threaten me that no laywer will take my case & even if we wait till he's 20 the amt will be the same. This ins company is the worst in US(F) I don't want get in trouble if I type out the name. I had a very bad experience when I settled mine last yr as the accident was in 2004 & we are both involved & the police report show that their insureer is at fault!!

go to another insurance company, are you saying the agent of the insurance company was rude? thats uncalled for! if it was the thrid party (the person who is to blame for the accident) then u can explain this to the insurance company. is there a thompsons solicitors where you are? thats who i work for, you can go onto thier website for some help and adivce

Get yourself a good lawyer and tell him EVERYTHING this guy said to you. Their job is to bully you into settling, don't fall for it.

A lawyer will know what is reasonable for medical bills, pain and suffering, ongoing medical needs and ongoing disabilities associated with the wreck.

They are bullying you because if the other person was at fault they know that what they are offering a ridiculous amount. Why else would they feel the need to be rude? If they were nice there would be a lot of people who would take the offer thinking its over, the basic amount has been covered or not want to hassle over lawyers and court. Or not wnat to put up the cash for a lawyer and maybe lose that money as well.
But to be rude? Then a lot of people will say regardles of the hassle "screw them" and I'm going to get as much as I can. Let me get this straight.. you were in the same accident and they already settled with you? Hmmm. Speak to a lawyer immediately. Once they find out that you have retained a lawyer the settlement offer will go up tremendously right out of the gate. The lawyer won't cost that much at that point if you choose to take it as all he had to do was make a few calls.
But I'm betting the lawyer will tell you to go for more. Or at least tell you if its worthwhile to do so. I say go for it since they are already offering to settle which means you have a case. And who offers 1,300 for anything? Why not 1500 to get you to take it?
