How long until we have us style gangs ruling deprived areas?
Whats wrong with the youth of london and other uk citys? They are stabbing and shooting people for reasons as petty as being looked at (mugged off is the street term)!
Gone is they day when you could save yourself from getting a kickin or getting shanked up by running to the nearest policeman if there is one in sight. These kids dont give a dam about the police and the prospect of going to jail, if they want you they will get you.They dont care about the police or going to jail.
How long have we got before these kids form L.A style gangs and control our deprived areas?

The answer is partly in your question.Depravation and disadvantaged kids are the two leading factors in this.My question is why are young black kids still struggling to find positive identities and choosing this path of self destruction.The Government is to blame.
I cant see that happening - especially in cities like london where you have such a mix of people living in such proximity to each other - how can an area be a ghetto if you have 1 million pound houses across the road ?

Look for them. Deal with them yourself. Or get a new neighbourhood, house, etc.

Gang violence has been rife here since, well, forever. ( The Krays..?)
Wherever there is depravation & poverty, there are drugs. This equates to drug dealers & drug "turf wars" leading on to murder & mayhem.
Inner city kids look up to these "dealers" and used to just emulate them, but not now. Since the apparent rise in "Gangsta Rap" it seems the rule books been thrown out the window. Impressionable kids listen to the lyrics of certain songs & then go out & try to act out this fantasy thats been placed in their heads.
The sad part is that 90% of these so called "G,s" are educated and come from decent American neighborhoods & families. Puff Daddy, or Diddy, or whatever he,s calling himself now being a prime example.
Gang culture is growing at an alarming rate.These kids make me sick. Something needs to be done to tackle this fast as asbo's and tags are just a trophy to these little idiots. I'd like to see them do some sort of military style punishment where they can learn some respect. Do they not realise the society they are creating for themselves and their children? How are they going to feel when they are older and have to live in fear for their and even worse their childrens lives?
Firstly, it's only a small minority of a city. When the Lozells riots took place a few years ago, I was in a laundrette in Gravelly Hill (about 2 miles away, Black, White, Asian people all united in horror at what was going on on their doorsteps.
Simple solution. You bump taxes up to the level that the judiciary and police can work properly. Give people a decent living so that they don't act like rats scrapping over a morsel. Zone land so that industry, commerce is located in deprived areas. Encourage paid leave for voluntary work. Drum in to people that not giving a damn about your children is tanamount to child abuse.
I agree with all you have said, but in answer to your question, I'm saddened to say, i think we've already passed that point
where you have been living for last few years they already do!
