Was the hotel right?

One night I was staying in the room of a popular hotel chain and the water was shut off. Not for a few minutes, but for 3 or 4 hours. The hotel gave no notice to me or anyone else in the hotel, and when I complained, they tried to deny that the water was off. Then they took 20% off my stay and made me sign something that I believed to be a reciept.

My question is: should I just be happy with my discount, or should I do something more...

Answer:
No, they were not giving you the proper needs of living for over 2 hours. They are already not supplying you with the basics. What if you had a business meeting and needed to take a shower? What if you needed to go to the bathroom?

They did not supply for what you basicly paid for... a place to stay with
1.shelter
2.WATER
3.Clean room, bed, ect

you should call up and talk to a manager or someone who is willing to take this up!

Depends where you harmed in any way,, or just inconvienced?
You already settled with them. The thing you signed was not a receipt. The person receiving payment signs the receipt, not the person giving payment. You signed a settlement.
Be happy, what more do you want ?
I would have called the chains Corp. Offices and complained then...now it's a bit late...
But you can always complain and hope they give you something else...
They should have offered you a free night. But its always negotiable. If you still feel shafted, email their customer service department.
If I were in your situation. I would demand a full refund from the hotel you stayed at. If they refuse. Tell the hotel that you will tell everybody you know just how lousy they're service was. Stand at the front door of the hotel and stop everybody that goes in and let em know how lousy the service was. Word of mouth is a customers powerful weapon

You are the customer whereas the hotel is not. You have the right to demand a resolution that you are happy with For now on, do not sign anything unless someone explains what you are signing and what it is for.

Good Luck
there was nothing you could do in the first place. you should take your 20%
If you accepted the 20% then you already received compensation. Yes, they should have told you, but what else are you really expecting?
I think you should be happy with the discount too..Hey, Where is Joey? What is he doing now? Can't think of his name, but you don't see him around very much..Have you collected all the Full House seasons so far that have come out?
