Laws against run aways in TEXAS?? (see details)?
i jst turned seventeen. my boyfriend is eighteen. we are a year and seven months apart. (meaning he'll be nineteen before i turn eighteen) lately things havnt been goin so well in my house and his brother offered to let us room with him for a while.. in another city! only thing is: my mom wud NEVER go for that. what would happen to me if i jst left? what wud happen to him? is it ok since im 17 && hes 18?
Answers:
Nothing would happen. You're 17 and according to Texas law you're a consenting adult. Your mother can't do anything about that.
And yes, it's ok as long as there isn't a 3 year difference in age between you and him.
Edit;
Do your research on laws before you start passing out quick answers.
Edit:TEXAS 18
The age of consent in Texas is considered to be 17 years of age, however,
until the minor turns 18, he or she can only have sexual relations with
someone 2 years older.
And no Sal, there is no criminal offense, especially sexual assult. Both of ya'll are dopes.
Your boyfriend will be charged with a crime. The first poster is not correct. You are not an adult at the age of 17 in the state of Texas.
If you are sexuallyy active he can go to jail for sexuall assault of a minor. It does not matter if it is consenting. In Texas there is no messing around with that stuff. Wait till you are eighteen then you can ruin your life. Don't ruin his life by going off with him and risking him being put in jail. At that point you would not be together will you.
what is the legal age of consent in TX?
running away when "things havnt been goin so well in my house" isn't going to solve the reasons things aren't going well...it really creates more problems in the long run...
is it a case of you don't like that your mom is still telling you what to do? well, hang in there until you're 18 & can support yourself!
a parents job is to look out for us until we're legal adults & (generally speaking) can support & take care of ourselves in every way (although some people never can...) this includes having a job so you can afford pay rent, insurance, buy your own groceries, pay the utilities, balance your budget & checkbook (and pay for your car too if you have one), buy your clothes yourself with your money, etc etc
if it's a case of abuse, then that's a different story & i would suggest contact local authorities to help you get out of an unhealthy situation...
