Why did president bush fire the eight U.S. attorneys?

the attorneys were above their appears. that means that they were the best there is. is it politically motivated? how? did they spend too much time in their position? are the attorneys all democrat? does every president do this in their presidency? what is the advantage to firing them?

Answer:
It was done for political reasons. However, it is perfectly fine! Most people don't remember, but in 1993 when Clinton took office he fired ALL 93 U.S. attorneys for soley political reasons! The practice of the president firing members of the executive branch who were members of the other party dates back to the 1700s, no one has made an issue of it until now. In short, the President fired the 8 attorneys for political reasons. However, this is not unusual, and, indeed, he showed far more restraint that former president Clinton.

Because he can. Why did Clinton fire 92?
Clinton fired 123 during the course of his Presidency.
They are "political appointees" and can be fired as the President sees fit. He hired them. He can fire them.
FACT
they were fired for political reasons, those reasons being that they were no longer in line with the presidents policies and that is the presidents perogative to do this. most incoming presidents fire all 93 u.s. attorneys upon taking office like clinton did when he came in in 93. these positions and these people are supposed to reflect the presidents philosphy and guide their decisions with like-mindedness toward that philosophy. apparently, these eight attorneys were no longer doing that, but lets wait and see what comes out of this...it should be interesting.
It appears he wanted to take advantage of an obscure provision in the patriot act that would let the ag appoint new ones without sentate approval.

This would help him conduct ideological purges, defeating the purpose of free elections.

Firing people for illegitimate purposes isnt acceptable in any context, certainly not in government.
The one from New Mexico refused to prosecute Mexican marijuana smugglers caught with less than 500 pounds of weed. He just had them sent back to Mexico.

Can you believe that? Not 500 grams, not 500 ounces but 500 pounds is the minimum for prosecution. In California the feds are trying to send an American woman to prison who purchased a few joints to relieve nausea from her brain cancer. Too bad she's not a Mexican smuggler, she could get away with 450 pounds of the stuff.
