If someone violates an injunction placed on them by a judge (or court) does that place them in contempt?

Yes as below. But I add that generally contempt requires intent or a level of behavior the satisfies the intent element.

If a judge orders you not to go within 100ft of your ex wife and your happen to be riding a bus that goes out of control for causes not related to you and crashes into your ex-wife's front door, that would not be contempt.


Once the court verifies that has happened, then yes they would be in contempt.
Upon proper motion the court should issue an order to show cause why the person should not be held in contempt. Then a hearing follows and the person is held in contempt if there is a material violation of the order.
