What is the penalty in CA for falsely claiming to have a contractors license and doing serious foundation work
I've asked this question yesterday and got good answers but the only definitive one sited California Business & Professions Code section 7027.3. "Any person, licensed or unlicensed, who willfully and intentionally uses, with intent to defraud, a contractor's license number that does not correspond to the number on a currently valid contractor's license held by that person. However, this person never offered a number at all -- we just took his work for it. and he didn't do faulty work. i wouldn't normally care whether he had a license or not, but now he is basically trying to extort money out of me by threatening to sue me for a totally superficial injury he did while working for me. So the question is, if he claimed to have a license and didn't, yet didn't do faulty work, is he still breaking the law and if so what sort of punishment might he face?

I'm not into law but if I were you I would speak to your solicitor and tell him your whole story.
If this joker doesn't have a license to work in his field and something happens then he will be knee deep in it!
I would say your solicitor will know exactly where you stand with this and I think this guy sounds like a scammer trying to milk compensation out of you now after the job has been done!
Good luck! I hope he gets what he deserves. A lot of genuine people out there work for years to get their quals and people like this are killing the honest worker not only in the States but everywhere in the world.
