Americans: Do you believe we should have the liberty to be nude at beaches not specifically (contd.)?
designated as clothing optional, if we are
-- on a remote part of the beach --
-- in an area where no children are present --
-- NOT acting in ANY lewd manner whatsoever --?
If you disagree, then do you at least believe that if a law enforcement officer happens upon a nude person in such circumstances, that the nude person should simply be told to cover up, and not charged with indecency?
Answers:
I don't care if you stand in line at McDonald's naked as a jaybird. Americans are so damn repressed sexually. I think it's part of advertising's attempt to sell you stuff. Europeans and other countries all over the world have no problem with nudity on certain beaches. It's considered normal behavior, not some repressed "family values"/ religious taboo.
No.
I do not think so. Quite frankly, I could care less about "indecent exposure". I am much more concerned with the health risks. Just talk to your physician about the risks of nudity.
Since a child could just as easily happen upon a nude person your argument does not hold water.
I have no problem with nudity. but certain beaches should be kept family safe. As far as the fine no it should be a verbal warning first.
If all those qualifications were met; if there were a area of the beach designated specifically as clothing optional that way people who would be offended by witnessing another person in the nude would know not to go there, and that part of the beach did not contain anything of value (i.e. scenery or vendor stands etc.) that the other parts of the beaches did not also have then I see no problem with it at all.
No. Children may show up at any time and if you allowed it at all, you would have gawkers and plenty of jerks there to watch.
As far as the fine goes, you know its against the law so if you take your clothes off on the public beach, you deserve the fine. Do the crime...do the time.
I'm in the San Francisco area. We have a few beaches that have a "clothing optional" area. I've heard of no problems from this. Some people enjoy being nude in the sun. I would'nt
do it myself, but if you wanted to, I think you should be allowed to do so. As for little children getting an eye full, mom and dad should be watching their kids anyway ! It's ok as long as you respect other's rights not to see something/one they don't want to.
I agree 100%. As Been-Here noted, many Americans are so prudish when it comes to simple, non-lewd nudity in a natural setting.
As you point out as well, some Americans (I am certainly one of them) are really "live and let live." I don't see how simply beeing nude on a beach, especially when you are considerate/cautious enough to take all measures to offend no one, should be classified as indecent.
Yeah, I agree with you. It's not a big deal. Unfortunately, lots of Americans haven't shaken off their Puritan heritage, even after more than 300 years!
I agree with you. There is nothing wrong with the human body. People are so repressed and keep saying, "What about the children." If a child see a naked person they would either ignore it or laugh. If they are pre teen or teen age, they will be bragging about what they saw. Most nudist families are more "normal" than these repressed clothed know it alls.
OK enough ranting. Naked is beautiful.
"As nature intended"
Most nude beaches in the States are not officially designated as such. If there's a tradition of nude use, law enforcement will generally leave the nude beach users alone.
Yes I believe we should have that liberty to be nude at a beach its much more relaxing and peaceful than a clothed beach Nude beaches should be more common in the U.S. like the European counties have only the victorian/puritan based antiquated laws in this country make nude beaches rare
support N.I.F
Nudity Is Freedom!!
I agree but we should not hide it, the last one should be the only restrain.
