With the constant escalation in violent UK crime why is it the Government hasn't revived the death penalty?

We now live in a country where even the strong and fit think twice about leaving their homes after dark, and if they do even in the defence of their homes, they fear they may be assaulted or even murdered.
I believe it is now time to reinstitute laws that allow execution in extreme cases of murder and rape in addition a death penalty that is retrospective and would mean retrial and execution of all murderers over the past 25 years

Answers:
The legal system in this country is controlled by limp wristed liberals who have made that imposable..At election time find out which candidates supports the reintroduction of the death penalty and vote for them

Bring back hanged, drawn and quartered!
We have an over educated under brained govt and civil service .

Banning smoking in pubs, over paying doctors and themselves and and giving money to deadlegs are far more important than law and order.

I didnt vote for them,,, who did?
Because 9 out of 10 violent crimes are commited in the black community and it would be "racist" to revive the death penalty 'cause of them, I guess.
Because people are often convicted wrongly. Also, the threat of death never stopped anyone committing crime in the past.
The real cause of unprecedented gun and knife crime in the UK is strictly censored on GOVERNMENT REQUEST to avoid racial tension.

So don't ask about it please
Like you, i would love the death penalty but for one thing. That being all the time there is a chance someone could be innocent how can you.
the problem with bringing back the death penalty is that you have to be sure that you have got the right person who committed the crime. Things started to go bad when corporal punishment was abolished in schools. There is no discipline in schools at all now even the teachers are scared. I believe one way to get discipline back is to reinstate corporal punishment in schools, and bring back national conscription that way young people will learn to have respect for other people and things around them. It would be a great help if the judges started to dish out the punishment to fit the crime people say that the police are not doing their job but it is soul destroying when they do the work get them to court only to be let off with community service so what else can we expect
The government CANNOT revive the death penalty. As a member of the EU it is against EU law.EU law takes precedent over British law....
Council of Europe introduced Protocol No. 6 to the European Convention on Human Rights to unconditionally abolish the death penalty in peacetime. This Protocol became available for member states to sign up from the 28th of April 1983. As of October 2004, 45 countries have adopted and ratified the Convention.
Protocol No. 6 came into force on the 1st of June 1999. The United Kingdom is also party to the Second Optional Protocol of the ICCPR
I agree its time we brought back death penalty. If it was up to me I would use it for child rape and supplying drugs as well.
If Karen is right we should opt out of Europe as well.
How come its terrible to execute someone who may be innocent when it is OK to drop bombs on civilians in war time?
We have a society with no discipline and no punishment. Is it any wonder the criminals have now got the upper hand.
Sadly the majority sit silent while all around is chaos and now we have eleven year old children being shot in the street while at play.
When will the public say enough?
because it doesn't work. Deterrents don't work because no one commits a crime expecting to get caught.

Also you can't trust the justice system, the Guildford 4 and the Birmingham 6 would be long dead if we had the death sentence.
government is far too soft
