So one mixed up nut for another? You want to get over him, yet you have a restraining order on him and you want him found. What for? You do not sound stable at the moment. Give it time maybe you will think clearly later on what you really want in your life.

If possible, move and start a new life somewhere else. You went through an ordeal, so you will probably need some therapy. The stuff you went through has changed the person you are, and you are likely to treat others with violence, also. Dont get into any relationships for a while, especially as a means to get over this guy. Find new hobbies. Get rid of bad memories -- pictures, songs, etc. See the link below for more.
my opinion is get some rebound man, some one you can count on but dont get to personal, share your feelings and love, its countagous to love yourself first, and then you can love others.. trust me the hitting thing are not healthy, cause you a head injury and dammage your feels.

Are you asking how do you get over your first love? I think that's it, so I will answer it that way. I think you were very brave to get out of it the way you did. You stood your ground and did the right thing. That had to have broken your heart. But you have a lot to be proud of too.
Now I have something to say you probably won't want to hear, but I have to say it because I know from experience it is true. There is something inside those of us who choose that kind of man. Until we find it and replace it, we will continue to do so. Please get some help to discover why you choose such a horrid man, and why you loved him despite this, and stayed as long as you did. I know you got out, and that's great, you don't have as much work to do as I did. I would hope that if I were in your shoes I would go to alanon. It's a free 12 step program for those of us who have or still love an alcoholic. It helps us to understand these things so we can change. Ppl do not tell you what to do, they simply share where they are in their journey, and how they are dealing. What is working and what is not. Do yourself a big favor and check it out. If you can't find it, find AA and ask them. AA is usually easier to find.
