Need Advice On How to Deal With Large Company That Exploits Workers?

I'm a 25 year-old from Singapore.

About a month ago, I was hired as an
'Assistant Manager' by Hang Ten.

Problem is, I had no idea what I was in for when
I signed on the dotted line.

No one told me about the 20-hour workdays with no
compensation for 'Overtime'... and just one day off a week.

Why 20 hours?
Because if you don't meet the sales target or exceed
it for the day- which is near-impossible-
you have to report to the office the next day at 8am,
and then proceed to your store and work until
about 11pm.

And if you DO exceed the sales target,
well, that becomes your NEW sales target.

That's right.
You don't meet the new one,
you gotta head to the office the next morning and explain yourself.

To top it off,
I couldn't just walk away
unless I gave them a month's notice.

I was almost broke and was running out of cash to
even afford the cost of transportation...

So I e-mailed members of senior management
and pretty much called them idiots.
I did not use vulgar language.

Are you working in Singapore or are you somewhere else? If you're outside of the U.S., I can't be of any help. Good luck.

I just read your additional details. Perhaps you can have them investigated by the authorities? Maybe a newspaper or television station?

Darn. You should come to America! Hey, maybe there's some kind of politics that you can become involved with and start changing laws. Another thought is that maybe international news would be interested in this. If people start boycotting them because they don't like the way this company treats their employees, then maybe they'll cave in to pressure and change their ways. The best way to get someone (big corporations) is to hit them where it hurts, their bank accounts.

Welcome to the 3rd world!!! Everybody bashes the USA but things like that very seldom happen here! If ti does it doesn't last very long!!
Did Jessica Alba really break up with her boyfriend? Thats good news!
Thank you for reminding me how great it is to live in the USA.
Sounds like Wal-Mart
