Why do I find it more disturbing if a woman is raped and then murdered than a man who is tortured to death?

Answer:
When a competent Man or Woman comits murder or rape the consequences never hit them in the kazooty till their caught and then they feel sorry and want renunification.

Maybe you would rather be raped and then murdered than tortured to death. I would.
Its because your a sexist git.
because you are more exposed to hearing about people being raped and such..

you hear about their stories and you learn about their life-long mental insecurities and problems...

its easier to feel sad about it because you know more about it...

however, torture is different..

most people dont know what "torture" is anymore because most of it is confidential...

its inconcievable to understand what people who are tortured go through because 1, most of the time its confidential 2, you dont hear about the stories very often 3, you dont know how its done or what tools are used 4, you dont know how bad it feels and 5, you dont know what someone thinks about before they die...

its impossible to "relate" or feel pain for someone when you know less about it...

even when you do know exactly what tools were used, how bad it was, and so on... you can't relate to the person.. even when you try to.. you just CANT...

i mean, when you hear about it or whatever, your first reaction is "EW" .. and then you shut down because you dont like what your hearing..

you cant imagine the pain sumone is feeling or anything because its just mind-blowing.. its just ... inconcievable...

when i say...

imagine getting a 5/8 or so drill bit drilled into your left shoulder, hearing it turn in your ear, knowing whats going to happen and being scared of the uncertainties of what your going to feel when it goes into your shoulder...

you probably didnt even read that last sentence. lol =)

i mean, you just cant concieve it.. you should be able to, lol...

i say that because it was actually shown on part of the fictional terrorist/counter-terrorist show "24" .. in which a terrorist was torturing a counter-terrorist agent in order to make him do a task for him to use against the CT agents country...

i mean, i was grossed out and it almost made me sick to my stomach...

but i wasnt thinking about the emotions or problems that this person is/will endure... like i would if i saw some innocent vulnerable young girl get rapped by some sick man...

its just inconcievable.. im grossed out even thinking about sum1 drilling a 5 or 6" whole in my back with a drill bit... AHHHHH!

24 is f*cking SICK! but i LOVE IT!

if I know a girl would kill me, I would ask her to rape me first.
to the soldiers, not nice what they did, but that is part of war and a lot of soldiers got away with it, on all sides, in all wars.
Personal preference?... It's hard to know the mindset of another person with so little input.
I thoroughly agree with Corey up there. Being tortured would be to experience the absolute depths of pain, such pain that you are probably incapable of even imagining it. Being raped is probably more of a conceivable threat and something you can identify with more. I'm sure if you ever experienced torture your opinion would change, it would have to because the entire POINT of torture is to create the most horrible painful experience anyone could ever go through.

Like, imagine the story from the news report you linked to, but where the soldiers shot the parents in the knees instead of shooting them dead, then made them watch while they raped the girl. With a knife. That's more approaching what torture might be, and don't tell me that's not more disturbing than the rape as it happened, regardless of whether it happened to a man or a girl.
