Lost of legal marriage certificate, how to find it?
Divorced and need the certificate to remarry. Married in Vic,Australia early 90's
Answers:
your city or town;s courthouse
Just write to the court and ask them to send you one. You'll probably have to pay for it, but that's the easiest way to do it.
Well Im in the states, but I think your courts hold onto copies just like ours do. Just give them a call and they will tell you whether you have to fill out a request form, or pay some amount to get a new copy, etc.
Weird that you need an old marriage certificate to get married again, we don't need that here.
go to the office of legal documents in the city you were married
Get a phone book and look up your county clerk or city clerk's office.
You'll have to pay to get another copy.
You'll be able to obtain a copy of the Marriage Certificate from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in your captal city.
This is the only legal one. The bit of paper you sign titled Marriage Certificate and given to you on the day you marry is not the legal evidence so just go for the one mentioned above.
You need to apply for a replacement from the Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Melbourne. You can apply online here:
