It is a big waste of time and money for sure. But I don't think inmates should masturbate in their cells. I know lots of people think masturbation is A-OK, but I don't belong in that camp. I know they're lonely and all that stuff, but they should do something more productive like reading or exercising. Besides, they might make a mess in there and also make a smell.
It shouldn't be cause for a money-wasting trial though. The warden or the prison guards should just tell the guy to stop beating it, and if the inmate refuses then punish him in a different way like charging him a buck or taking off some time from going outside or something. Because the fact is, the prison guards do have to keep an eye on the inmates, and they shouldn't have to watch inmates having a tug-of-war with Cyclops in their cells.
But hey, that's an interesting article there with a funny title -he just wasn't just blind though, he was dumbas*. The whole ordeal probably costed an extra $10,000 at least to the taxpayers.
EDIT: Yeah, lol. Hey, I can't say I did regular exercise much in my teenage days either. I'm glad those days are behind me now. Well, I hope so at least.
Another funny thing about this article is how it could play out if some inmates just start ignoring the 60 days punishment - they might end up with really crazy sentences like over 100 years. Because if you do the math they'd just need to jack off 609(or about twice a day for a year) times to get an extra century.
Oh, my God, are they SERIOUS? I mean, at least he didn't try to take his sexual frustration out on another inmate! That is preposterous!
