Is there such thing as an animal rights lawyer?
I am thinking of becoming either a lawyer or a professor of English. I don't want to be a criminal lawyer, though, and I really love and care about animals.
Answers:
Of course; there is a lawyer for everything...seriously. I would recommend that you do become an Animal Rights Lawyer because I too love animals and they need more protection in this harsh world of ours!
Best of Luck to you!
If there is, someone needs to reassess their career choices.
Only if you can have animals as clients. It's not like they can pay you, so you would have to do all your cases pro-bono which means you wouldn't stay in business very long.
Seriously, I don't see how that would work. You can't sue on behalf of an animal since animals are just legally considered property, and it's a prosecutor's job to bring any criminal charges against those who abuse them. But perhaps you can become a criminal lawyer, and then donate some of your time and resources to the A.S.P.C.A. They do have a law enforcement division now and I'm sure they can use free legal advice from time to time.
If there isn't then why not become the first. This is a much neglected area when it comes to rights so GO FOR IT.
