Does anyone know if there is any way i can open up a closed case adoption and get my five year old back?

i am a recovering addict been clean for three years (please dont hold that against me) during the time i was using i lost custody of my son to my mother.which i am very grateful for ..could have been to strangers ...well sicnce he was under three at the time the only option was custody with agreement to adopt .i feel like such a failure and cant get over the fact that hes so close yet so far away he knows me and now that i am clean and sober i really feel like i can do everything i should have done n the beginning and fight for my son ..all i want to know is it too late? anyone please help ..if anyone has expierienced this or knows of someone who has any info would really be helpful ..thank you!

Adoptions are highly technical. If the technicalities are not met, then there is a very slim chance you might be able to get your baby back.

However, think it through carefully before doing such a thing. That might be best for you, but what about for the baby who has spent three years with another family?

Your feeling like such a failure is not a good reason to rip a child away from the only family she has ever known.


Nope..you had 6 months to change your mind when you signed the papers.
It is too late for you to regain custody of your son.

Unless your son is in a bad situation(your mother is abusive) then you need to leave him where he is. YOU chose to use drugs instead of being a parent. Nobody made that choice for you. Now you need to live with the consequences of YOUR actions.

If your mother lets you have visitation, then maybe you can get to know him slowly again and maybe work up to longer and longer visits. But if not, then you need to respect her wishes.
