Do all fathers have the option of signing custody rights away?

If you are requested to take a paternity test and it comes back positive, do you have the option to sign away the rights to the child vs. paying child support to a child you would never get to see?

Answers:
No. The only time you have the option is if there is someone willing to take over in the place of the biological father, such as adoption by another man. There has been cases going before the Supreme Court that is trying to establish a bases for an eventual ruling that a man can waive his duty of parenting before a baby is born, basically his abortion option. But again he would have to file papers before the child is born if this is ever legalized by the Courts.

No.

You have to pay, only way to you can sign your rights away(relinquish rights) is if child is adopted. If you choose not to see your child that's your decision(unless it's court ordered) but you still have to pay.
You can only sign your rights away if someone else is already asking for the responsibilities along with the rights. However, you CAN sue to get visitation rights.
You have an option at times and they will let you get away with it if the state has custody, If not, they are going to slam you for everything prior to the relinquishment!

You know how many people try this? MANY!

The state is going to want your money!
I am not a lawyer but I believe that the mother has to ask you to sign over your rights and she will offer you in exchange free you out of paying child support.
Nope. Signing away rights has nothing to do with paying child support. If it were that easy, all fathers would do it and get out of paying.
I think so, but the court may decide otherwise!
