Does the Constitution apply to children?
I just wanted to know, because children don't pay taxes.
Answers:
18 years old is generally when all provisions of the constitution are in affect for the individual. There are exeptions, citizenship is one and they are protected against self incrimination. The right to vote is not extended to pre 18 year olds.

yes. But the gaurdians of the child are their government until they are 18. That is not to say that children have no rights, just that their parents get to decide what they are allowed to do or what they are not allowed to do.
Yes, the constitution does apply to children, but sometimes it means different things. Schools can limit students speach to a greater extent than adults are generally subject to.
Children do pay taxes. They pay sales tax, if they own property they pay property tax, and if they have income they pay income tax. Most children do not pay income or property tax b/c of their economic situation but child movie stars can pay thousands if not millions in income tax. Almost all children 3 years or older who live in states with sales tax pay taxes from time to time.

If the constitution only applied to taxpayers, much of the adult population would not be covered. Those of us that could still vote would elect representatives that reduced our tax rates.
