How do I go about filing for child custody in PA?

My ex & I (we were never married) have a 3 1/2 yr. old son. I want my son to live w/ me b/c I do not trust his father at all (he's never home anyway). He can come and see him any time he wants, I just want my son living with me. Anyway, I need to know what I need to do in order to file for custody. I already talked to a lawyer but they are way too expensive for me and right now I can't afford one. Is there any other way to go about this w/o a lawyer??

Answers:
Call your local family court. You can file the paperwork yourself, and if the father agrees with you having full custody and with whatever visitation you decide on, you may not need to go in front of the judge, just with a mediator. I did it on my own and it was easy. I think it cost less than $20 for all the paperwork. Good luck!!
