Penalty for Theft... I believe it's a misdemeanor?
A friend of mine was apparently witness to someone stealing a Playstation from his work and didn't report it, and wound up being charged with theft. He's 18 and got a ticket for it, and a court date. He lives in Colorado. Does anyone know if he'll get jail time or a fine, or where I can find the information?
Answers:
i think you're friend might be lying to you. why would he be arrested for seeing someone else steal. if it's true he should plead not guilty. if he did it and has no record he'll probably get a fine, have to pay for what he stole, and be placed on probation.
its a misdemeanor, if he gets a halfway decent lawyer the charges willbe dropped.
Apparently? This sounds fishy. There is no law
against not reporting a crime. A witness , maybe.
A criminal no. There is more to this story than you are telling.
